Rob Robinson, Director

The observatory became first operational in 1995 to disseminate information to the amateur and professional astronomical communities, in regards to orbital motion and studies of the moon. Since then, the observatory has maintained a presence on the Internet and acquired a significant amount of scientific data. Research programs involve lunar and stellar astrometry, the study of lunar impacts by meteors, high- resolution asteroidal eclipses of stars, and the monitoring of special regions of the moon. The observatory has three telescopes at its disposal, depending on the data that needs to be collected. Low light, video image capture provides permanent records of the observations acquired. Data is currently being sent to the International Lunar Occultation Centre in Tokyo Japan, The American Lunar Society and The International Occultation Timing Association. The Robinson Lunar Observatory has an outreach program, which provides programs and demonstrations within the Kansas City and surrounding areas. Slide programs and demonstrations are tailored according to the age and experience of the group. There is no charge for these programs, but donations are welcome. The donations are used for upkeep of the equipment, and for continuation of the outreach program. For further information about the outreach program, or schedule a program, contact the observatory via voice phone at (913) 422-1280
